Join us for a special Black History Month presentation highlighting a few of the many notable African Americans who made a difference in Muncie and Delaware County. Inspired by the "Those Who Made a Difference" books compiled by Muncie Public Library and the late Hurley C. Goodall, these stories will pay tribute to Patricia Bragg, Roy C. Buley, Vivian Conley, Geraldine Evans Findley, Enoch Fletcher, Hurley C. Goodall, Rev. John E. Johnson, Alice McIntosh, Beatrice Moten-Foster, Rev. Anthony Jones Oliver, and Doris Faulkner Stewart, among others.

Twenty years ago Muncie Public Library partnered with local historian and Civil Rights leader Hurley C. Goodall (1927-2021) to compile two volumes of books titled "Those Who Made a Difference." Volume one was printed in 2003, followed by a second volume in 2005. These reference books document both the everyday and the extraordinary contributions of African Americans in Delaware County who made their mark in education, athletics, politics, community service, and more. Some of these men and women were known while others had never been formally recognized for their contributions, but their perseverance and the bravery of their actions opened doors for others. They made a difference.
