The Ball State Philosophy and Religious Studies Department in partnership with Muncie Public Library presents the Big Questions, Big Ideas series. Learn to think critically about complex issues and questions, and cultivate an awareness of the diversity of ideas in our world.
January's topic will be "Unveiling the Palestinian Story" by Hanan Qasrawi, Assistant Teaching Professor of Urban Planning. A Fulbright scholar, Hanan Qasrawi is an architect and urban designer with five years experience in Palestine. After completing the Ball State Urban Design master's program this summer, she joins Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning as part of the Department of Urban Planning, teaching design skills primarily in the ECAP common first-year program.
Our discussion aims to explore the Palestinian story through personal experiences, history and the broader context of the critical events happening in real time. It will also delve into the different religions that exist in Palestine while at the same time shed light on some of the important terms being used. The event will draw a connection between personal stories of Palestinians and how those might reflect on societies in the US. The discussion will also delve further into potential solutions and the possibility of implementing them in real life.
